Our founder's path in tea

I first fell for tea in 2010—not as a business, just a quiet obsession with how a single leaf can hold a place, a season and a mood. For years I kept returning to one question: why does so much of the world meet Chinese tea only as a cheap, anonymous bulk commodity?

I entered the tea trade in 2015. For more than a decade since, I have worked across Chinese tea—sourcing, grading, blending, and learning what overseas cafés, brands and gift buyers actually need. About eight years ago I turned that experience toward one goal: building direct-source supply that lets overseas brands use Chinese matcha and tea honestly, without the broker fog, the vague "references organic," and the lot-without-evidence problem.

SilkRoad Leaf is that answer. We develop Chinese matcha and tea into products a café, a private-label brand or a gift recipient can actually understand, test and choose again.

How we source—direct from gardens and certified facilities

We are a source-connected supplier, not a bystander broker. We work directly with tea gardens and certified processing facilities in China's key tea regions—selecting by lot, controlling quality at the processing step, and managing delivery ourselves.

For matcha, that means stone-milled supply from dedicated tencha gardens we have personally visited and graded. For the wider collection, it means a tight network of growers and facilities we know by name—not a catalogue of anonymous "partner factories."

Every candidate we send is tied to a real lot, a real origin note and the documents that lot can actually show.

We share the actual certificate numbers, issuing bodies and validity windows with verified buyers during onboarding—never another company's documents presented as our own. If a specific certificate matters to your import, name it in the brief and we will confirm exactly what that lot carries.
